Medcor Training Development Summary

I collaborated with Medcor to design and produce a comprehensive training program for their clinical teams, specifically around the Medcor Care Protocols (MCPs) and Against Medical Advice (AMA) procedures. My work included the following key contributions:

  • Instructional Design: Broke down complex medical protocols into clear, visual modules covering:

    • Delegated Medical Authority and its importance for nurses, paramedics, and EMTs.

    • Safe application of the MCPs, including anatomy of a protocol, evaluation/observation steps, referral levels (911, Emergent, Urgent, Non-Urgent, Self-Care), and care instructions.

    • Special circumstances such as overrides, life-threatening situations, downtime forms, and adverse outcome reporting.

    • Use of Medfiles Navigator and the Online MCP Tool for protocol guidance and documentation.

  • Visual Storytelling: Designed motion graphics and explainer animations to simplify complex decision-making processes and emphasize safety.

  • Consistency and Branding: Ensured the visuals followed Medcor’s brand identity, incorporating icons, color schemes, and logo treatments to create a professional, unified training experience.

  • Scenario-Based Learning: Created visualized scenarios for high-risk situations, including AMA cases where patients refuse care, to help clinicians understand real-world application and required documentation steps.

Outcome

The finished training delivers standardized, engaging, and legally compliant learning modules that help Medcor’s Occupational Health Nurses and Technicians confidently apply MCPs in daily practice. The multimedia approach enhances retention, supports regulatory requirements, and ensures patient safety while protecting Medcor’s legal and clinical integrity.
